Eric Welsh Debunks Myths About International Students Seeking American College Education in U.S. News and World Report

Eric Welsh recently spoke to U.S. News and World Report about misconceptions international students may have about higher education in the United States. Eric explains that since “schools continue to seek and openly welcome foreign students,” international students should not be concerned about feeling alienated.

Eric goes on to debunk the idea that student visas are impossible for prospective international students to obtain after being admitted to an American university. Eric adds that all colleges certified to enroll foreign students by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program employ a designated official who “is often very helpful and willing to answer questions and offer advice throughout the visa process.”

Eric also eases international students’ concerns about the timeliness of the student visa process, assuring that “most applicants can secure an interview within a few days or weeks after submitting the application.” However, if any issues arise, Eric advises international students to seek help from a qualified immigration lawyer.

“Those with a history of visa refusal or who have any reason to believe they may not be admissible to the U.S. should be (legally) represented,” Eric concludes.
