The U.S. House of Representatives is conducting hearings to decide whether President Trump should be impeached. After all the things that President Trump has said and done about America’s immigration laws and policies, and immigrants themselves, isn’t it ironic that a key witness is an immigrant?
This important witness is Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a top White House expert on Ukraine, a staffer on the National Security Council, and a decorated war veteran. Here are some more interesting things to know about Lt. Col. Vindman:
-He was born in Ukraine when it was still the Soviet Union and he immigrated to the U.S. as a child.
-He enlisted in the U.S. army and was awarded a Purple Heart for his service in Iraq.
-He has a twin brother who is also a national security official.
Lt. Col. Vindman’s testimony is so vital because he listened in on President’s Trump phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is at the center of these impeachment hearings.
