During the four years of President Biden’s term, over three million immigrants have successfully applied for U.S. citizenship. Thus far in 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is processing naturalization applications at an average speed of 4.9 months, an unprecedented number as recent years have reported an average processing time of 11.5 months.

The rapid increase in naturalization application processing also is partly due to the upcoming election, as each approved citizen can result in a vote for either party.
