Professional Experience

Meixuan (“May”) Zhang has practiced exclusively in immigration law since she graduated from Law School in 2004. She joined Reeves Immigration Law Group in early 2006 and became a named partner in 2013. She is a Certified Specialist in Immigration & Nationality Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Ms. Zhang has extensive experience in a wide variety of employment- and investment-based immigration, focusing on labor certifications, permanent residence options for foreign investors/entrepreneurs (EB-5s), professionals, academics, international managers and executives (EB-1s), heath care providers including international medical graduate physicians, religious workers (EB-4s) and individuals of extraordinary ability (EB-1s) as well as nonimmigrant applications for professional workers, managers and executives (H-1B, L-1, TN, E-3), treaty investors and essential employees (E-2) and religious workers (R-1). Ms. Zhang is also familiar with non-immigrant and immigrant visa processing at U.S. consular posts worldwide.

Ms. Zhang regularly represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in diverse matters, including family-based petitions, adjustment of status, citizenship and naturalization, J-1 waivers and waivers for grounds of inadmissibility. She handles the appeals of denials of hardship waivers and non-immigrant/immigrant visa petitions to the Administrative Appeals Office. She has also represented numerous individuals before the immigration courts and on appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Education

Ms. Zhang earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994 from Shanghai International Studies University in Shanghai, China and her MBA in 1999 from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D) degree with honors from Loyola Law School in May 2004. While in law school, she externed at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.

Admission

Ms. Zhang was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and California Supreme Court. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Ms. Zhang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
