The USCIS recently released an updated version of Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to reduce the burden on applicants and streamline the process.
Most notably, the new application incorporates Form I-864W to streamline the process for those exempt from the Affidavit of Support requirement.
The form also impacts the submission process of medical examination results, requiring applicants to submit the records with their I-485 application.
Lastly, the updated form requires specification of immigrant categories to help the USCIS identify public charge exemptions.
Starting February 10, 2025, the USCIS will only accept the updated I-485 forms.
