On Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced plans to establish a “National Call Center” in Nashville, Tennessee. The center is intended to assist law enforcement in tracking unaccompanied migrant children for potential removal.
ICE officials noted that there is an “immediate need” for the facility, which is expected to handle and process between 6,000 and 7,000 daily calls concerning the location of minors. The agency stated that the center could be fully operational by June 2026.
This follows a notice in early October, stating that the Department of Homeland Security “will provide a one-time resettlement support stipend of $2,500 … to unaccompanied alien children, 14 years of age and older, who have elected to voluntarily depart the United States.”
