May Zhang was recently asked by EB-5 Investors Magazine to comment on the effects caused by the nine-month lapse of the EB-5 Immigrant Investors Regional Center program. In the article, Attorney Zhang provides extensive insight on the consequences this extended lapse has had on individuals with an EB-5 visa, sharing, “This has had major repercussions on people living in the U.S. on nonimmigrant visas, such as an H-1B or E-2, because many of them are unable to file applications for adjustment of status until the program is reauthorized.”
Attorney Zhang also notes that the matter is further complicated by the fact that adjustment of statuses usually take two years, as they are dependent on the approval of an I-526. Moreover, Attorney Zhang weighs in on the impact COVID-19 has had on processing times and priority dates in light of the Regional Center’s reauthorization.
