On October 2, 2024, the U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery opened up, allowing 55,000 immigrants the opportunity to obtain a visa. The lottery is now open until November 5, 2024, and immigrants who come from countries with low numbers immigrating to the United States are encouraged to apply.
Who Qualifies to Apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery?
Immigrants who are trying to enter the United States from countries that have less than 50,000 people immigrating to the United States in the past five years can apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery.
This means that citizens of the following countries are unable to apply this year due to the high immigration rates: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, the People’s Republic of China (including both mainland and Hong Kong-born individuals), Colombia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), Venezuela, and Vietnam.
