U.S. Partners With India to Meet Growing Demand for Student Visas

On June 13, 2024, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in India interviewed 3,900 student visa applicants. This occurred on the 8th annual “Student Visa Day,” a program founded to help applicants connect with officials to further their understanding of the student visa process.

The U.S. continues to see a surge of interest in Indian student visa applications, with more visas issued in 2023 than in 2018, 2019, and 2020 combined. In addition to India, the U.S. has seen a mass interest in international students seeking to study in the country, with approximately 1,057,188 international students reported to be in the U.S. higher education system in the 2022-2023 academic year. To meet this continued demand, the student visa season has been extended for the fiscal year of 2024.
