Unlike millions of people throughout the world, Daniela* did not always dream of coming to the United States. On the contrary, she was happy living in South America and thought she would live there her entire life. Unfortunately for Daniela though, she ultimately decided that the only way she was going to be safe was by coming to the United States.
Daniela fled her home country and came to the United States in 2021 after spending the previous few years protesting anti-democratic and authoritarian polices and regimes. Daniela had a passion for protecting others’ human rights and highlighting when governments were committing human rights violations.
Sadly, Daniela’s life was in danger because of her work. She had been threatened, followed and harassed, and assaulted, all because she was trying to help others. Daniela therefore thought that she has no choice but to come to the United States and request asylum.
Daniela sought the assistance of Reeves Immigration Law Group shortly after coming to the U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Lamoureux represented Daniela at her removal hearings before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (Immigration Court).
Attorney Lamoureux prepared an extremely detailed case for the court to review. It included a persuasive application, detailed declarations, and comprehensive supporting documentation. Attorney Lamoureux also spent a substantial amount of time preparing Daniela to testify in court before the Immigration Judge.
Daniela’s application for asylum was granted! She is so happy that she is safely living in the United States and no longer must fear that she will be harmed simply because she is trying to help other people.
