New York City has announced a plan to open a 24/7 arrival center for asylum seekers in response to the influx of migration. In the past year over 50,000 individuals have gone through the system, proving the need for additional resources.
The opening date and location have yet to be determined but are expected to provide a range of services, including legal assistance, employment training, housing assistance, and more.
Along with the arrival center, NYC has announced the launch of a new agency, the Office of Asylum Seeker Operations, which will oversee the city’s migrant crisis.
