In a post on X, the department described mass migration as an existential threat to Western civilization, aligning with rhetoric from conservative lawmakers. Embassies, which already monitor local political and security issues, will now focus more closely on policies that appear to show leniency toward migrant crime or prioritize migrants over citizens.
