The U.S. Embassy in Manila recently posted a notice to their website warning that as of May 19, “all immigrant visa applicants who arrive at the U.S. Embassy for their appointment without all of the required, original documents will not be interviewed and will need to schedule a new appointment.” The statement adds that should the appointment be canceled, the next interview may not be available for months after the original appointment date.
Necessary Documents and Appointments
Required documents include passports, original civil documents (including birth and death certificates as well as marriage licenses or proof of marriage termination, if applicable), original Philippine police clearances for all applicants 16 years and older, foreign police certificates, affidavits of support (I-864) and financial/tax documents, and an interview appointment letter.
The statement also emphasizes that all applicants must have attended their medical examination appointments at St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) before their interview. NBI AKA documents must also be provided for applicants with any aliases, nicknames, or alternate name spellings on public documents.
Prior to their appointments, applicants should review the complete document checklist at travel.state.gov.
