Trump Administration To Investigate Millions of Visa Holders

A recent email announcement by the State Department has indicated that the Trump administration will be conducting continuous, thorough investigations of all 55 million visa holders, including tourist visas

The purpose of such vetting is to examine for “things like any indicators of overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing support to a terrorist organization,” all of which may prompt revocation of the foreigner’s visa and deportation. Any law enforcement and immigration records, prior to or after the issuance of a visa, will be considered. This news comes as a shock to many, especially when combined with other recent efforts such as the vetting of social media activity and the crackdown on student visas.
